Research Focus and Main research questions
MicroRNA (abbreviated miRNA) is a small single-stranded non-coding RNA molecule that functions in RNA silencing and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. Circulating miRNAs are released into body fluids including blood and cerebrospinal fluid and have the potential to be available as biomarkers in a number of diseases. The focus of our research is the evaluation of specific miRNA’s in patients with tetralogy of fallot (TOF).
Research Projects
MiRNA in patients with unrepaired and repaired TOF
Main research questions
Specific miRNA levels may predict outcome in patients with unrepaired and repaired TOF and be associated with clinical signs of heart failure, echocardiography and MRI findings.
