LATEST STUDY RESULTS PRESENTED

On Tuesday, December 4, 2024, Prof. Dr. Ravens-Sieberer and Dr. Kaman presented the results of the sixth and seventh COPSY survey at a press conference. The COPSY study shows that even years after the coronavirus pandemic, the mental health of children and young people in Germany is still significantly worse than before the pandemic.

Publication of current HBSC results

At the satellite day of the "Poverty and Health" congress in Berlin, we presented the latest results of the HBSC study . Most schoolchildren in Germany rate their health as good and are satisfied with their lives overall. However, it also shows that many children do not get enough exercise and that psychosomatic complaints have increased, pupils from less affluent families are more affected.

All results can be found in the current Journal of Health Monitorig .

Eleven- to seventeen-year-olds suffered particularly often from the pandemic-related school closures

In February 2023, the joint project of the COMO Study was launched, which investigates the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the physical and mental health as well as the health behavior of children and adolescents in Germany against the background of socio-ecological contexts. The kick-off meeting took place in Karlsruhe on 27 and 28 February.

RECOMMENDATION OF THE KIDSCREEN-10

The KIDSCREEN-10 developed by Prof. Ulrike Ravens-Sieberer and the European KIDSCREEN-Group is recommended by the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) as part of their 'standard set of outcome measures for child and youth anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post traumatic stress disorder'. PhD PRIZE

The Hedwig Wallis-PhD prize 2020 of the 'Freundes-und Förderkreis des Universitätsklinikums Hamburg-Eppendorf e.V' was awarded to our colleague Dr. Ann-Katrin Meyrose for her excellent doctoral thesis in the field of psychosocial medicine.

Results of the most recent wave of the HBSC study (2017/2018) on child and adolescent health in Germany are published. Subjective health, well-being, (cyber-) bullying, body satisfaction, physical activity, dietary habits, and alcohol, tobacco and cannabis use were investigated. Results are presented in Volume 03/2020 of the Journal of Health Monitoring .

The Child Public Health Research Section has a new study on the effects and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of children and adolescents in Germany. The COPSY study is led by Prof. Dr. Ravens-Sieberer and conducted by the Child Public Health Research Section at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.

STUDY RESULTS

The current results of the HBSC Study 2017/18 on child and adolescent health are now available in the form of fact sheets . In addition to a basic fact sheet on the methodology of the HBSC study, results are presented on health-related topics such as well-being, substance consumption, psychosomatic complaints, nutrition, exercise and (cyber) bullying.

The European care project MOCHA , in which the Child Public Health Research Section was involved as Country Agents for Germany, has now been successfully completed.

MOCHA is a major research project within the Horizon 2020 funding program of the European Union for the comparative evaluation of different models of child health care in Europe.

During the next months, the next survey within in HBSC Study will be done. A sample of German schoolboys and schoolgirls will be questioned about their physical health, nutrition, mental health and well-being. We thank all schools for supporting the study as well as the participations pupils!
