    The research group is working on the development and evaluation of models and interventions to improve patient-centered health care. The following topics are covered:

    • analysis of process and effects of patient-centered health care
    • development and evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions for the implementation of patient-centered health care, e.g. evidence-based patient information, involvement in medical decision-making (shared decision-making), decision aids, or telephone-based health coaching services
    • development and validation of measurement instruments to assess patient-centered care
    With regard to interventions for the implementation of patient-centered care, a special focus of the research group lies on digital information and communication technologies. We are especially interested in telemedicine or internet-based applications, a user-oriented development based on needs-assessments, their acceptance and effects of these interventions.

    Moreover, the research group has developed various webpages, targeting experts, the general public, as well as patients.

For people with mental health problems and their relatives, the internet portal provides detailed health information, decision aids as well as symptom checklists. Moreover, contact addresses for different help and treatment offers can be found.
    • www.research-patientcenteredcare.de : Overview and description of research projects of the funding priority for health care-related research with a focus on “Chronic diseases and patient centered care”.
    • www.shared-decision-making.org : Information on measurements and methods of shared decision-making, and a collection of medical decision aids for various diseases can be found here.
